Ivaylo Dimitrov

ROLE

 

Ivaylo’s growing practice focuses on international arbitration and international investment disputes.  He has experience representing sovereign clients as well as large multinationals in ad hoc and institutional arbitrations under the UNCITRAL, ICSID, ICC, and LCIA rules. Alongside his arbitration focus, he also has experience in public international law related matters.

CAREER

Ivaylo has represented clients in a variety of jurisdictions within Africa, Asia, Europe and the United States in matters involving distribution of human health products; complex oil and gas projects; disputes in the mining sectors; and disputes arising out of satellite launch financing.

In addition to his arbitration work, he is experienced in providing domestic litigation, transactional, and advisory services to corporate clients, including representing a group of UK investment funds in highly contentious bankruptcy proceedings, leading the negotiations on behalf of a Bulgarian investor with a French development company as well as acting for one of the largest Bulgarian national banks.

Prior to joining Omnia, Ivaylo worked at several multinational firms based in London and spent more than three years at a boutique Bulgarian law firm. In addition, he served as a research assistant to The Honorable Judge Charles N. Brower, and gained experience at the case management team of the LCIA.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ivaylo is a Bulgarian qualified attorney. In July 2022 he passed the QLTS examinations to become qualified and admitted to the roll in England & Wales.  His first law degree was from the University of National & World Economy in Bulgaria. He holds a Master’s degree in international law from the George Washington University Law School, Washington, D.C. achieving Highest Honors (first in class) from the same. Ivaylo is fluent in Bulgarian and Macedonian and can converse in Russian.
