Rodrigo’s practice at Omnia focuses on international dispute resolution with a specialism in commercial and investment arbitration.
Rodrigo represents clients from private individuals to businesses as well as States and State entities. He advises across a range of sectors, including technology (software licensing, cloud services and gaming), construction, oil & gas, and energy, as well as private and public international law.
Career
Rodrigo has worked in Brazil and France, acting on arbitrations under the rules of major institutions, including ICSID, PCA, LCIA, ICC, SCC, ICDR, and others, and represented clients before the Superior Courts of Brazil and the English High Court (Technology and Construction Court).
Some notable examples of his experience include acting for British and American investors in an ICSID arbitration against an Eastern European State, representing a South American engineering company against an Irish-American paper and packaging company in an ICDR arbitration subject to New York law, and advising Microsoft in a multi-billion dollar civil claim in Brazil related to microtransactions in video games.
Qualifications
Rodrigo is triple-qualified and admitted to practice in England & Wales (2024), the State of New York (2021) (USA), and Brazil (2015). He holds an LL.M. in International Commercial Law and Dispute Resolution (with a concentration in arbitration) from Pepperdine University School of Law, a postgraduate degree in Corporate Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul, and a LL.B./JD from the same institution. He is fluent in English and Portuguese, speaks Spanish and French to a professional level, and has an intermediate level of Japanese.
