ROLE
Pietro focuses his practice on international arbitration matters and the resolution of international investment disputes. He has experience in representing clients in ad hoc and institutional investment as well as commercial arbitration matters under the LCIA, ICSID and UNCITRAL rules. He has gained further experience in public international law, human rights litigation as well as Italian domestic litigation across several sectors.
CAREER
Pietro has acted in a variety of jurisdictions throughout Europe and the emerging markets including matters related to the distribution of human health products; the conversion of bank loans denominated in foreign currency; sponsorship agreement of an elite Italian football team and the establishment of a business unit from a multinational fashion brand.
In addition to his arbitration work, he has represented a political refugee from the Ivory Coast before an Italian Court of Appeal, achieving a Ministerial decision that denied the refugee status from being overturned. He also successfully represented an Eritrean asylum seeker expelled by the German authorities, securing the status of refugee with the Italian Ministry of the Interior and an employment visa from the German Embassy in Rome.
QUALIFICATIONS
Pietro is an Italian qualified attorney and a member of the Milan Bar. He holds a J.D. in Law (“Laurea Magistrale in Giurisprudenza”) from the University of Milan and an L.L.M. (cum laude) in International Law from the IHEID (Graduate Institute in Geneva) and in July 2022 he passed the QLTS in order to be admitted to the roll of England & Wales. He is fluent in Italian and English, and speaks advanced French and Spanish.
