Cherie Blair CBE, QC talks sustainable and responsible investment at the Concordia Africa Initiative
1st March 2019
Speaking at the inaugural Concordia Africa Initiative summit in London yesterday, Cherie Blair CBE, QC called on private and public actors to think about investment in Africa from a sustainability perspective.
Talking with Dentaa Amoateng MBE about investment opportunities and risks in the Africa Rising context, Mrs Blair emphasised the importance of long-term thinking, proper due diligence, and strategies harnessing all the diverse talent across the continent. Omnia’s Chair stressed the need to attract the right type of investors who care about their social and environmental impacts, and to prioritise preventing and settling disputes over slow, expensive and disruptive legal proceedings.
Mrs Blair is a member of Concordia’s Leadership Council and helped officially launch the Concordia Africa Initiative in New York in September 2018. Omnia looks forward to the Concordia Annual Summit in New York in September 2019 and to the next Concordia Africa Initiative summit in 2020 in Kigali, Rwanda.
