Alessandro Rollo focuses his practice in public international law and international arbitration. Alessandro has represented a variety of parties including States and private entities in international disputes, inter-State proceedings and investor-State arbitration under the ICSID, LCIA and ICC rules as well as in proceedings before the International Court of Justice and the English courts.
Alessandro has also acted for sovereign States and private entities on a wide range of public international law issues, including territorial issues, sovereign immunity, human rights, State succession, treaty law, the exploitation of natural resources in disputed territories and the protection of foreign investments.
Alessandro’s experience includes four years at a renowned London public international law firm, a US global law firm where he advised clients on proceedings before the Italian courts, a period of time at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, covering global cooperation against cybercrime and counter-terrorism and at the Office of International Affairs of the US Department of Justice, where he was involved in international judicial cooperation in criminal matters.
Alessandro was admitted to practice law in Italy in 2016 and is also admitted to the Roll of Solicitors, by the Solicitors Regulation Authority for England and Wales as of February 2021. He holds a law degree from Roma Tre University in Rome, Italy and an LLM in international law from the University of Cambridge. He also holds a certificate in international investment law from the University of Barcelona. In 2015-2016 he was editor of the Cambridge Journal of International and Comparative Law and is fluent in English, Italian and Spanish. He has also has an advanced working knowledge of French and Portuguese.
