Nearly 46 million people are enslaved globally – an estimated 12,000 of them in the UK – generating illegal profits of $150bn (£114bn). However unwittingly, British consumers and businesses are sustaining this cruel exploitation, with slavery likely to exist in the overseas supply chains of most large UK companies.

Cherie Blair speaks at the Global African Investment Summit 2016

Chair of Omnia Strategy, Cherie Blair, spoke at the 2nd Global African Investment Summit hosted in London today.

Joining the Corporate Africa panel together with The Abraaj Group, Bechtel, Safaricom, Vodafone, Prudential and PWC, Mrs Blair discussed the role of the African private sector in driving the transformation of the continent.

She will also be participating in a workshop co-organised with Veracity Worldwide to discuss the key questions that investors should consider to avoid the pitfalls of failed investments and achieve lasting gains.

Today Omnia Strategy participated in a panel session at the 4th UN Forum on Business and Human Rights in Geneva. The session, entitled “Putting the UNGPs into Practice: Making Business Sense of Human Rights” saw Omnia’s Adam Smith-Anthony assume the role of legal advisor to a corporate in a discussion about a fictitious role-play scenario, aimed at addressing the complexities of operationalising the UNGP’s in business.

Cherie Blair addresses State Advocates and Lawyers at the 5th Investment Treaty Arbitration Conference 2015

Cherie Blair CBE, QC delivered the keynote speech at the 5th Investment Treaty Arbitration Conference in Prague on 22nd October 2015. Cherie addressed State Advocates and Lawyers from across the world on the important topic, “Developments in the Enforcement of BIT Awards”.

On 23rd October 2015, Mrs Blair and the Omnia Strategy team facilitated a roundtable discussion with a select audience of State Advocates focusing on sharing experience and best practices in the area of BIT negotiations and investment treaty arbitration.
